I woke up expecting to see some rain and wind. I saw neither. In fact my buddy Brad was supposed to make the trip but we rescheduled because of the forecast. Knowing that bass were close by I grabbed my gear and headed out. Hit the river and found a few short bass. I worked that river hard and didn't have a lot to show for it so I decided to look for some bluefish. Once I got out into the bay I knew they were close. You can actually smell them. No I'm not kidding! I found them ripping through several bunker pods. As soon as I stopped the boat all hell broke lose. Bunker were flying out of the water trying to avoid being sliced in half by those toothy critters. I quickly snagged a bunker and let him swim with the pod. It didn't take long for my reel to start screaming. I thought I hooked into a huge bluefish. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it was a bass. I grabbed the net and in he went. First keeper of the season.  After that it was all the bluefish you could ever want. I continue to be amazed by the new electronics. What a great way to start the season.
